So, after waiting weeks upon weeks for my exam results, having nightmares about it and thinking up the worst possible scenarios I am unbelievably happy to announce that I passed my undergraduate law degree with a upper second class honour (2:1)! And to celebrate, I've put up a new piece called 'Into the Wild' that I've been working on for almost two weeks. I was tempted to put it up before my results were out but, changed my mind because I wanted it to be a piece that symbolised 'turning over a new leaf' in my life, which would only happen after my results were announced.

It has been four long hectic years at university. I've had the cliched good times and bad times and as much as I would have liked to have taken the phrase 'work hard, play hard' more literally I'd still choose my 2:1 over a good time any day because it's not the good times we leave university permanently on our record with.

My final year had been way too stressful for me and so I decided this was definitely the time for me to take a year out. However, stress wasn't the only factor that made me decide that I needed a small time out from education. I also felt I need the time to revaluate what I want to do with my life and at the same time work and earn/save a bit of money for the next step. And on top of this, the year out will give me the opportunity to start focusing on my photography again. I'm so excited about this prospect because at one point between the end of my exams and waiting for results I felt the flames of my passion for photography dying into embers. It was only up until a couple of weeks ago I started throwing myself back into it and I'm already starting to feel like my good ol' self again. =]

And on that note I will end this post. I'm looking forward to a completely worry free summer and putting up new work!

I've got all my university coursework deadlines coming up in January so sadly I will be setting aside my photography until February after my exams in mid-May. Pains me that I have to set aside my photography but, hopefully the wait will be worth it when I make my return with new work.

I've used the 18-55mm lens that came with my Canon SLR since I was 16.  Since I've been practicing my photography a lot more lately, I would really love to buy the next lens up (55-200mm) and a macro lens (if possible). Of course, I have an empty bank account. I'm selling a wide variety of stuff on my eBay such as:

Photography, from the moment I took my first picture I was captivated. I knew from then that a part of my life would always be dedicated to it, even if I decided not to make it my whole life. And whatever part that was, it would be unconditional. No matter what happened, I would always love it.

I still remember my first camera. It was a film one. I’d been wanting it for a while and I finally received it as a present. The details are a bit blurry as to who, what, where, and when I got it but I’ll never forget the feeling when I first held it in my hand. It was of pure happiness. I could finally take shots that I’d been longing to take. My best image I ever took with that camera was of a friend of mine looking over the city of Barcelona with a fan in her hand. The picture spoke a thousand words to me. To this day, I regard it as one of my best images. Natural and unedited.

I’d say my love for photography originated from my family being blessed with the artistic gene. Give any one of them a pencil and a piece of paper and sketches would be bought to life within minutes. I, on the other hand felt I received the blessing differently. I felt I was at my most creative when I was taking pictures, designing/making clothes and even trying to decide on an everyday outfit. As well as the photography, I also fell in love with fashion. Put two together and I got my perfect combination: fashion photography.

If there’s one thing I aspire to do with my photography it’s to be good enough to shoot for one of the top fashion magazines: Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar, Tatler but we’ll see where that goes. In the mean time, I just want to take pictures of anything and everything. Things that interest me, fascinate me, inspire me! I want to make mistakes and grow from them. I want to learn new things along the way. I want to develop my own style through endless shoots. I want to express my ideas and emotions through my work. I want to see my dreams become a reality…

I’ve finally decided to start showing my work. It won’t be much at the moment but I hope to build on that as the year progresses. I’ve decided to throw myself into my photography and soak up as much of it as I can and show just as much of the results in return. I’m still in the process of learning how to do all things photographic; learning the ins and outs of my SLR, editing pictures on photoshop, using lighting etc. So yeah, let me know how I’m doing!
